For the second match on tour Pilgrims were batting first with Matt and Rendy opening the batting.34 runs were scores of 11 overs before Matt(12) was the first victim being caught going for a big shot.Rendy(25) was soon followed by Craig (8).Trevor was joined by Simon Gnad who took it in his own hands to take on the Ebernoe bowlers with awesome power scoring 40 out of the 42 partnership with Trevor before Trevor was bowled for 2 and the score 92-4.The power batting did not stop there as Simon carried on with his hard and clean stricking of the ball to all corners of the ground before bringing up his first hunderd for pilgrims with a massive six. Simons innings of (111)(13*4's and 5*6's) finally came to an end after scoring one of the best centuries ive ever seen scored for the Pilgrims well supported by Paul harding whose 42 n.o helped in a partnership of 138 runs in just under 14 overs.Pilgrims finished on 234-5 and tea. Again another great tea was laid on by Jean and her helpers more than enough for everyone.Pilgrims took to the field after tea and it was great to see Binky Rose opening the batting.Binky had not played against us for a few years as he had been suffering from some serious illnesses so it was good to see him back playing again.Ebernoes new player N.Kemp also opened fresh after scoring a century against Ebernoe a few weeks earlier in the Horn fair.Unfortunatley for ebernoe Simon with figure of 4-3-4-1 and Harry 5-0-11-0 virtually sealed the victory for us within the first 9 0vers with Ebernoe just scoring 16-1 with Simon claiming the wicket of N.Kemp.Good bowling also from Paul H 2-11, Trevor 2-24, Conrad 3-38 and Sam Birt 2-28 kept Ebernoe to 140 all out with only D.Whittington really troubling the scoreboard with 30 runs.Another fine win for Pilgrims but an even better solo performance and well earned first century from Simon Gnadd. Again thanks to jacko and Dave for sharing the umpiring and to all our travelling supporters for the support you gave us. |
